Oh boy. The Husband came close to clocking me last night. After FINALLY (and I mean FI-NAL-LY) getting that tangled old mess under control - he even stayed up late the night before last to finish detangling it for me - I started knitting. I got interrupted by phone calls, neighbors, cat feedings, etc... but I finally cast on! Yippee! Only to discover about 4 rows in that it is not the look I was going for AT ALL. With The Husband on the other side of the living room, I said, "Nope. This yarn is not going to cut it." I thought he was going to have a meltdown. Woops. I really need to filter what I'm going to say before I say it.
The thing is, I love that yarn! I have been waiting for a really special project to use it. I was convinced THIS was finally the project! I had an image of what it was going to look like in my head. Only to discover that the color changes are too rapid and it's giving it a more speckled look instead of a striped/graduated look. Sadness.
Fortunately, The Husband understood. (Otherwise, somebody might have had to come find my body.) He said, "Well, you can make socks out of it!" I love that he understands my crazy. So, I'm back to square one on the Wingspan shawl. I might use these and change out the colors with each "wing" section:
This yarn was also a gift. Don't you love the colors??? And, it's getting close to fall timeframe, which is perfect. I have a variegated yarn that has all these colors in it that I might incorporate as well. We'll see how it looks. Maybe I'll crochet a little border around it? Who knows. It will be fun to play with it, though.
I really wish I could have seen the look on his face....gah! Thanks for the lunch visit! I had fun!
